there are 539 members on this website, but imagine how many people are out there that have maladaptive daydreaming and haven't found this website yet.

maybe most of the people that have it, think that they're the only ones that do it (like i once thought) so they don't say anything about it. do you think maladaptive daydreaming might be more common than we think?

probably thousands of people have MD, most of them probably don't even know it, and most of the ones that do haven't found this website. it probably is commoner (not a word? lol) than we think, but we don't know much about MD yet, so...
I would imagine quite a few. Funny, I was reading a thread on reddit and one person described MD to a T and wanted to know what was wrong with him....i directed him to a description of MD, and he commented he would try to contact the doctor whom is doing the research. I hope he (and others that commented as well) managed to get some help?
Cynthia's study has been submitted to her publisher.  I can't wait 'til it comes out.  She has been busting her butt trying to find answers and help us.  Heart of pure gold.

I think there are loads of us out there,  but doctors have just categorised our daydreaming as  part of other disorders, like OCD or APD.

That's why I'm so happy to learn that finally someone is taking us seriously and doing the research.  Hopefully in the future when someone with MD goes to a doctor they'll get a proper diagnosis and not have their daydreaming dismissed as an oddity not worth taken note of.
