I just started college and my daydreaming is getting in the way like never before. It is getting in the way of my studies and of me making new friends.
I would appreciate any advice that y'all would give me to help me stop daydreaming.
Also, I was prescribed celexa for my social anxiety disorder. This is also prescribed to people with OCD. I read that OCD meds are also supposed to help with maladaptive daydreaming. Is this true? Has anyone else taken Celexa?
Because college is so much more free time than you are used to, it makes sense that you would fill that time up with daydreaming. My recommendation is to get up and out of your dorm and stay as busy as possible. If you have trouble concentrating to study, start or find study groups. Make study materials if reading alone isn't enough to keep your mind focused. Do you have a job or organization? Find one and stay busy with that. The more you have to do, the less time you'll spend letting your mind wander.
If it becomes a true problem to the point where it's affecting your social life or grades, you should talk to your counselor or the school's counseling service. Dont' let it mess up your future!
