Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest

Well, you probably know that MD is not an officially recognized diagnosis. And even if it was, we're not professionals and we couldn't really give a diagnosis over the internet even if we were. So do you have MD? I can't say for certain. But you do sound like you have a lot of symptoms that MD describes.
Like you, my daydreams are very film like. I can control myself when I'm in public, and I go over and over specific parts of a daydream. In fact, a lot of my DD are really repetitive. Similar story lines and themes come up a lot. Like you, I don't have to have a repetitive movement, though it helps.
I guess the question I would ask you is, do you feel like these daydreams are getting in the way of your life? Are they hindering you in some way? Do you feel addicted to them? Not everybody here feels that it's a negative thing, but they are definitely negative in my life. They don't help me in any way, and they have made me miss a lot of real world opportunities. So I see myself as having a problem, and MD describes my problem pretty well.
Maybe these aren't a problem for you yet. You said they are getting "more and more intense," so I'd just ask yourself at what point they would become a problem. Then decide not to let them escalate past that point. If you like the creativity of them, try to use your daydreams to produce something. Art, stories, whatever you like. If you feel like they are making you unhappy or are a problem, there are a lot of suggestions on the board for ways to try to get them under control. A lot of us here are trying just that right now.
So welcome to the board! I haven't been here much longer than you, but it seems like a great place! :) I'm not sure if I answered your question very well, but those are just my thoughts.
