I'm really curious if you guys have ever told anyone about your MD and got an unexpected reaction, good or bad.

I told my psychologist and she thought it was weird (MD doesn't even have a name in spanish). She made some funny face (lol) as if she didn't beleive me but, obviously, being my psychologist she didn't reacted bad.

How about you, have you had an unexpected reaction??

The first person i told that i had MD, told me he also had MD himself xD

My mom said, halfway through reading the main page,"Everyone has an imagination, Em." Thay was probably the worst considering it came from my own mother.

Not really unexpected, I guess, because of how I specifically told each person. Mum laughed at the name, and couldn't quite say 'maladaptive' properly the first time (I call it compulsive fantasy' now, even though I think it's more addictive than compulsive, I still think it suits best.) One of my friends, when I told her I had this, first thing she said was "that's a disorder?" she was kind of shocked, because she fantasizes too (god, I hate how sexual that sounds. It's irritating.) but she's not addicted to it (in the same way that people can have alcohol just fine, but some people can end up addicted, and some people just don't, I'm an alcoholic, she's not. Metaphorically speaking.) so yeah. It got cleared up quickly though.

"god, I hate how sexual that sounds. It's irritating" LOL, Wish, I hate that too. Though I didn't want to talk deeply about thee content of the fantasies to my psychologist I needed to make clear it they weren't sexaul fantasies.

I'm not sure if I have the guts to. My mom and me get along some what but she has though of me to always over react so she might think that I am over reacting. My dad always listens to me but I am not sure how he would react. I am a senior who will soon be going to college I don't want them to think I am not ready. I told my friend about it because I caught her daydreaming but didn't say I had it.

I don't feel I need to tell anyone since I have you guys and myself :)

I haven't told anyone yet! but I might soon, its just the people in my life are hard to predict and I have no idea how they would react if I told them. They could think i'm insane or try to get me help. I just really hope MD gets recognized as an actual thing soon it would be so much easier to explain to people what I had if doctors knew what it was also...

I haven't told anyone yet, and I see my parents reacting similarly to the, "Everyone has an imagination, Em."
But my twin sister knows because she has it too.
Oh my gosh, Dani, we're completely in the same boat! My twin sister is the only one who knows because she has it too! I doubt whether I'll ever tell my mom, and I'm debating whether or not to tell my best friend.
So that's that.

I have a twin too! I think she might have it but its barely there you know? She might not have it anymore i haven't  seen her dream in years.

yes, I told my mother and she thought it was very bizarre and I'm pretty sure she thought I was psychotic. I think she's forgot all about it now though.

I have a twin too!

Hahaha I can't beleive that many people here has a twin. I have a twin too!! (fraternal twin) hahaha. I'm not sure if he also has MD (we don't get along well), but I don't think so.
