I am. My room is a horrible mess. I havent seen the floor in years. I just tend to collect things and let them pile up instead of throwing things out and putting away things that ought to be put away. Old newspapers, books, magazines, empty soda bottles, old junk mail, etc. My room has barely become passable.

The last time I had my room cleaned, I paid my brother 50 bucks to help me clean it. It was quite a while before we finally broke through the layers of junk and saw the floor. After we were done, a strange thing came over me: having a neat, clean room actually made me feel good on the inside.

Unfortunately, thanks to me, my room went back to its old filthy, cluttered self. Well, today I began the process of actually cleaning my room. There is too much junk and I've managed to make the tiniest dent in the junk, but its a step in the right direction. I had to stop for the day because it got dark and I don't have a lamp for my room. (First thing after I've cleaned up my room completely, is get myself a new lamp for it). I'm looking forward to having that wonderful feeling that's certain to come once I have my nice, neat room back, like the last time it got cleaned.

One of the items I removed from my room was a book of photographs of Frank sinatra. I don't know what the year the book was published. But the photos were strictly from the 1960s, around that time showing sinatra at work, play, at home, etc. At first I stopped my cleaning to browse through the pages. And I thought of NOT removing that book from my room. I looked at the photos showing what a grand life sinatra was leading, and then I thought "what for? So I can admire and daydream someone else's life instead of working on building up a better life for myself?" So that book was tossed out of my room and put away into storage. And I looked at the huge piles of all the other books I still have and realized that they meant nothing to me. Most of them just served to fuel my daydreaming all these years. They may have served to occasionaly educate me with a few facts here and there, but for the most part they've served no real purpose in improving my life in more substantial ways. Worthless. Time for me to find better ways and activities that will actually work to improve my life. Cleaning my room is the first start.

I'm a bit of a hoarder, but I try not to keep too much stuff. I have had a couple of major room-cleanings done, but I always got a bit distracted by old stuff. We're moving soon, and downsizing, so when I get back from dads I have 5 days to get rid of or pack everything of mine. God, it's so weird, I realised today we only have 4 full days left at Mums before we move. I should have made the most of the beach and lagoon and forest and spencer park that's all nearby, but I never did. Ah well, it's a bit late now.

I have been clearing out clutter these past few days. I feel like the cleaner the room is then the clearer my mind is. I'll save stuff for a long time then I'll get ruthless and haul it all to goodwill. It feels like a new beginning. In fact I started doing the cleaning lately to induce a new beginning for myself. I've been stuck in some mud and I want to break free (anyone get that Freddy Mercury feeling?) I also sleep better in a clean room, that is when I eventually fall asleep. I have books of castles that used fuel dds, now I have computer files of castles, I had catalogs of furniture to put in my castle, and now I can just shop online for it. Modern MD is so much easier than how we did it in the old days :)
Sandy, good luck with your move. It's a lot of work. I hope things have calmed down over there.

@ J Noland: I have files on my computers too. I feel embarrassed about it, even though some are just photos of places, houses, etc that I would want to live at/in. However, some are photos of fictional characters that I use in DDs and glance at while listening to music to help visually picture them and I would really die if someone saw them. I get paranoid when someone uses my computer, so i've placed them in a random folder with the names like 'system' or 'task' that look just like system operation folders so they won't be tempted to open. :) I sound like a loon now haha.

I am also messy in my room, though its an organized chaos I like to think. I actually can get rid of most things easily, so I don't think hoarding will be a problem for me. I need to get better at systematically cleaning my room instead of 'purges' after about a year that gets rid of about a third of my stuff and really cleans it completely. Oddly enough, I am very OCD and organized in other places - work, my dorm from college, our old house that my fiance were going to stay in. I find that strange... anyone else very organized except at home??

OMG, i do that too!  but I keep mine on a memory stick because my brother almost caught me when he was poking through my computer.

I have a little bit like that, some house designs (I even designed a couple houses on the sims, and the garage was just a bit room with a concrete floor, 'cause sims 1 doesn't have a proper garage) and a couple of land designs and things, and I don't normally worry someone's going to see them unless they're looking for something on my computer and they end up a couple of folders away. In fact, all this stuff is stored in a folder that's still just called 'New Folder' because I didn't know what to name it.

I've made my characters and their houses on sims 3, but i hate the restrictions, one of my characters has 11 siblings and i they only let you make 8 family members O_o
