So I have been struggling with maladaptive daydreaming since I was in 5th grade. It really started to get bad once I got into college and I barely finished my bachelors. Was until I started to pursue my masters that I really looked into finding some help and I found one key thing that can be really essential and helpful for a lot of people!
I have seen a lot of poor people go to a psychiatrist or psychologist and tell them they start with maladaptive daydreaming. A lot of physicians and psychiatrist as well as psychologists have never heard of this term so they think it's very foreign which adds to your frustration. Instead if you go to get help tell him that you suffer with the symptoms of ADHD which all fall in line with maladaptive daydreaming. Although these boots are very significant differences I feel that maladaptive daydreaming is a sub category of ADHD because they share some major qualities.
When you come the position with these symptoms that are relative to ADHD they can better treat you in a few in getting better. This is because ADHD is a recognized condition in the medical world. I wasn't taking Prozac for a month now and I'm starting to see some really good improvements and so I'm hoping it continues to grow. I did have to try several different medications until I came to this point but I definitely think it's worth it. Can anyone give me any testimonies in regards to taking this route if they have? I hope this helps!

Yeah, let us know how it goes in two months or so. I took ADHD meds for years before I realized that MD has nothing to do with ADHD.

I'm pursuing a new, "dissociation" angle. Look at this book I've just bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1442216158?keywords=the%20wanderin...
