Been reading a lot of stuff about people believing there's a link between MD and OCD. And while I can see how it makes sense it never really occurred to me, whenever I've filled in forms or been asked if I have any OCD like behaviours I've always said NO.
Perhaps I should discuss it with my psychiatrist when I go for my medication review, but the reality is I probably won't mention it... I don't really like her.

Gotta love those meds doctors. Bloody golf enthuiasts with prescription pads. So hard to find a competent one that won't make his grocery list while your talking.

I was told by a therapist once that OCD can operate entirely internal. You know, having to think certain thoughts before you can do what ya gotta do?
But whether or not compulive fantasizing actually meets that criteria I do not know.

Another thing to consider is that researchers are also looking into MD having some connection with dissociation.

Well its pretty hard to tell if MD is linked to OCD.

I mean yeah the obsessive trait of wanting to daydream is there but I don't know so much about the 'compulsion' aspect. Supposedly, OCD is fear based. Meaning that if you don't do that repetive behavior, something bad is going to happen. And with MD I don't feel I have to do it because I feel something bad is going to happen. I actually enjoy it compared to ppl with OCD who dread it! I actually feel MD is more like
"Impulse Control Disorder "

Five behavioural stages characterize impulsivity: an impulse, growing tension, pleasure from acting, relief from the urge and finally guilt (which may or may not arise).

In my own experience: I do feel the need to daydream. I could feel tension grow as I don't daydream. I daydream and I feel a relieve. And yes at times I.feel guilty for wasting time.

I also do the same, repeating things till the scene is perfect or provokes just the right emotion in me

I was just about to make my own thread on a similar issue.

A lot of my DD's end up becoming fixated on a single phrase/scene.

Just the other day I think I repeated "You can judge the bends in the creek by the folds in the hills and trees" to my DD girlfriend about 15-20 times. I don't know whether this is an OCD tendency because I keep changing it until it's perfect or it's really because certain thoughts causes europhia and I try to get more by re-dosing the scene which could make the barrier between OCD and MD.

Unfortunately she' the only psychiatrist at the facility, and I have an involuntary habit of telling people that I'm completely ok or playing down how I'm feeling. >_/p>

Even if you don't like her , do mention OCD to her. You can always change your psychiatrist later. Work with what you have for now.
