If I don't write I go insane and maybe my mind is telling me to write, certainly the MD mind seems adaptive to it. The downside is realizing that the negative fantasies are also dreams. I associate a dream as a pleasant thing and some of my thoughts are just not pleasant.

how does writting them down help? I had a reoccuring frightening DD and I wrote it down and it stopped happening. So for me getting it out on paper got it out of my head.
I know that too well. It's good that you can write down your daydreams, because writing itself can be a productive and stimulating hobby. Think of your imagination as a powerful tool to create an entirely new world on paper - J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling have done that, for example.
