well, hello everyone, I'm kind of new. I've only just discovered a few days ago that I'm not the only person on the planet with this condition, feeling a little less weird... I want to ask you fellow day dreamers, have any of you developed some techniques of keeping this under control? this is a relatively big problem for me, but I've also realized that it could potentially be a gift, I just wish I knew how to control it- switch it on as will. I've heard a lot of talk here of triggers to the dd. Have any of you discovered the opposite- triggers that make you stop dreaming, or certain times where you're less compelled to?

I believe DD is all about feeling. When I began studying my DD I find that if the history is total fantasy the feelings are real.  When you start facing your dragon in the real world you just do not need to kill them in a fantasy world. Well that does not stop DD just make them less invading.

The only thing that I've found that keeps it under control is being around people. The problem is that I'm a very introverted person with no job and no money to do anything so I spend countless hours in my bedroom alone. Most of the time I'm daydreaming. I'm much like Cordellia in a sense that I really don't like socializing with people. So it's rare that I actually spend time with large or small groups of people enough to keep it under control. Even if I could, after only a short time I would get agitated and my MD would backfire and get shoved into overload. It's happened a couple times already. I just don't know what to do about it anymore ... =(

Nowadays during the day I only daydream for about 3 minutes a piece and then snap out of it. I have the really long daydreams at night in order to calm me down and help me transition in to sleep. I guess a good way to keep it under control is to avoid looking at the real world relevancies of the DD. For example, if your DD involves a celebrity or a character based off of a celebrity then try not to watch movies or look at pictures with him/her in it. I also heard that writing/drawing out your daydreams helps so that you don't have to carry all of this info from your daydream on your mind (takes some weight off).

What do you like doing besides daydreaming? What are your hobbies? Having a good time in the real world can keep you distracted from your thoughts.
