Curious if the excessive daydreaming can be hereditary or could a person be predisposed because of genetics? I think my mother also lived in a fantasy world. She spend quite a bit of time alone, she was a homemaker and never worked outside the home. My dad was retired from the Navy and up until I was about 10 he was gone most of the time. She did have emotionally and physically traumatic experiences in her younger life that I think may have cause her to retreat into her perfect world.

I caught my mom one time talking to herself when she thought no one was around...she quickly "covered" for herself at the time...I was pretty young and had imaginary friends, so I didn't think it was wierd.

All I know of my biological mother is that she's in a mental institution in St. Petersburg and has been there over 30 years. My father or siblings I know nothing about.

My Mom daydreamed like this and so does my son and if my Mom can be believed so did her mother.  I was wondering the same thing.
