From time to time over the last 30 years or so I've had fixations on celebrities which has spurred wasteful daydreaming. I have posted to websites or written letters in the past to make the exchange real and concrete. I've told myself to forget about this nonsense. But today in order to curtail some MD, I sent off a sarcastic comment to Dido's Facebook. I told her that her breakout song 'Thank you' was the worst song she ever made, that M&M had a stroke of genius by sending her off the bridge to drown in a car trunk for singing the song in his video 'Stan', that naming her kid Stanley was off the wall, that I wrote my comment out of a combo of OCD and resentment that she ever popped into my head. Now I regret doing it.

I wonder how many Celebrity fixated MD'rs there are out there?

If you actually want to play the guitar, I say hang in there. If you are bad at it, all the more reason to practice. We should work at what we are not good at. Of course it is momentarily easier to just pretend that you are the equal of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix than to actually learn to play a little bit. I joined a rock group wannabes at 12. Ma couldn't afford an electric guitar. All I got was an acoustic guitar that didn't fit in with the Beatles format of the group. I just wish that I had bought a harmonic and played like John Lennon 'Love, Love Me Do'. Mick Jagger plays the harmonica too. I might have been good at it by now. As it is about a year ago I took up the harmonica and practice 5 or 10 minutes when I can. I don't get frustrated because I am doing it precisely because I am not good at it.
