Well, it's happened AGAIN. I've got a mad crush on one of my DD characters. I've become accustomed to the embarrassment that always accompanies these crushes, since I've been having them since I was a little girl. Eventually I shake off the shame and tell myself that it's perfectly normal to explore the concept of love in your mind, especially if you crave it or have never had it. Everybody needs a little love now and then, you know?

Today I was walking through the park, deep in thought about her. I imagined that we were holding hands for a while, walking like a cute little pair of lovers (I'm such a dork, hehe ^_^). When I got home, I had an idea: why not describe her a little bit to you all? I'd be stepping out on a narrow limb, for sure; it's difficult to keep talking about something so embarrassing. But everyone here is an active DD-er, so I'm hoping that you all will read this with an open mind.

This particular young lady is named Kasumi Miyazaki. As you can probably guess, she's Japanese. Her father was from Tokyo, and her mother was from the Hokkaido prefecture. After they were married, they moved to the United States—Kasumi's grandmother was a native of Colorado, and both her mother and father shared a love for the US. On November 1, 1993, young Kasumi was born (this makes her 18 years old) in the city of Denver.

I guess it can't hurt to describe what she looks like, either. Kasumi has a bright, brownish-red hair color that doesn't seem to fit with her ethnicity. Her eyes are brown and round, and her cheeks are full of color. She stands about 5'7'' tall, and is rather thin. Kasumi likes to dress in cute things, and is almost always seen in a dress or skirt. She prefers frilly blouses to t-shirts, and her favorite colors to wear are white or other light colors. She also has an affinity for plaid, and her favorite shoes are a pair of brown leather mary janes. In the summer, she often wears jean overalls when a skirt or dress would be a hassle. Antique and vintage looking clothes fill her closet, and fuzzy sweaters are a must for the winter.

Kasumi aspires to study theater, and to become a costume designer for the performing arts. She is skilled at drawing fashion, and even more skilled at creating it; her forte is dresses that resemble 30s and 40s fashion. She loves going to renaissance festivals, and always creates her own medieval costume when she goes. The same applies to Halloween. Kasumi is a skilled knitter, but she enjoys sewing more. The sound of her sewing machine soothes her.

Having relatively well-to-do parents, Kasumi's family regularly attends a country club in a wealthy neighborhood. Her father is an avid golfer, while her mother prefers to swim laps in the pool. Kasumi herself is a tennis player, and can often be seen practicing or wandering about in her tennis skirt. The family doesn't make it a point to be a part of the snooty social climate at the club, which causes many of the other attendants to stick up their noses.

There's another reason that the country club crowd frequently gossips about the Miyazakis, and you may have already guessed it. Kasumi has known she was a lesbian since she was fourteen, when she began to be flooded with teenage hormones. Throughout high school, she didn't date, and only came out when she was seventeen. It's a source of embarrassment for her—she feels awkward having to explain to people that such a private part of her life is different. Fortunately, her parents are extremely accepting; they love their baby girl, no matter who she chooses to fall in love with. Her somewhat “girly” nature has caused her to be a hopeless romantic: Kasumi dreams that one day, she will find her soul mate.

Kasumi is really only shy when it comes to her homosexuality; she otherwise has no trouble talking about the birds and the bees. Ultimately, she's quite the social butterfly. She's extremely compassionate towards others, and always tries to help when someone's in need—often at her own expense. Kasumi doesn't tolerate rude or mean behavior, especially when it's directed at someone else. When she sees a bully out on the prowl, she'll march right up to him and give him a piece of her mind! Her kind heart and willingness to give to others makes her vulnerable to manipulation and cruelty—this is her biggest weakness, as she avidly tries to see the good in people, even when there's very little to be seen. When feeling sad or hurt, she will lay on her bed for hours, curled up with a stuffed bunny that her grandfather gave her.

This is as far as I've gotten in developing Kasumi's personality: she and I only recently “became acquainted,” and met just a few days ago. I guess I wrote this as a chance to open up about my MD to y'all: it's just such a relief to have a crowd who understands, haha! I'll let you know as she “tells me more about her.” It feels so wonderful to finally have a group of people willing to listen ^_^

Wow! Kasumi is such a fascinating DD character. I was instantly drawn to her last name because my favorite anime director is also named Miyazaki lol. Only a few days, you say? I almost can't believe that because you developed her so well already. I thought she might have been with you for a few months at least! I hope you use her as an RP character when we get around to it. My main character is gay as well (sometimes a transgender). xD Happy daydreaming~! ^_^
