...I wrote a song yesterday. It's called 'Dream On Dreamer'.  The title of this song - and the title ONLY - was inspired by Cascada's song which has the same title. I didn't steal any of the song, but the title caught my attention, because of the reference to dreaming. So this song is basically about me daydreaming. I know poetry and songs don't have to rhyme,  but I like writing in rhyme, and a couple of times (see what I mean about rhyming? LOL) I have sort of... not said exactly what I mean for the sake of rhyming (e.g. when I say 'everything will be alright' in the chorus, it probably won't if I don't do something about my MD, but, oh well...) but it's the best I could do, and for once, I was staying up til midnight doing something OTHER than DDing so... here it is:

Turn on the music

Walk up and down the floor

Disappear to a different world

A world of something more

Fantasies, sweet fantasies

All inside m head

Daydreaming my life away

Whether pacing or in bed...

Dream on dreamer

Dream your life away

Dream on dreamer

It might come true someday

Dream on dreamer

It's how you've spent your life

Dream on dreamer

And everything will be alright...

(Dream on dreamer)

Vanish to your other world

Your more exciting life

You've done it fo many years

Even at the age of 5

No one knows and no one cares

So just carry on

Your daydreams are precious even when

They don't last for long

Dream on dreamer

Dream your life away

Dream on dreamer

It might come true someday

Dream on dreamer

It's how you've spent your life

Dream on dreamer

And everything will be alright...

(Dream on dreamer)

So what do you think? Oh yeah, about the 'no one knows and no one cares' I mean no one who knows me in real life not just virtually (or in my imagination lol joke) knows about my MD. And no one on here probably cares either...

Anyway... was it a good way to use up my creativity? Or would I have been better off DDing for a few hours?

(Oh yeah, I have DDed when I was 5, but my daydreaming didn't become more maladaptive until I was 7, but I clearly remember when I was 5 making up 'pretend games' in my head by myself about Dory [I always have liked characters that come across as forgetful or annoying to be in my daydreams XD] in the film Finding Nemo *blushesfortellingabouthis* and me as a pegasus called Strawberry that could somehow breathe underwater. But I managed to stop myself because I thought if the school asked our class to create a character then it would be suspicious if I already had one. I think some crazy things XD)

Very nice song. I could 'sing' it in my head with a tune. Try to think of a tune for it. Yeah very good way to  use ur creativity.

Nice!  I think putting something out in the world is so much better than just creating something in your head and never sharing it. I hope you keep creating and writing!

It seems like you meant the song to have a positive view on daydreaming, but personally I find lines like "dream your life away" to be depressing.  Out of curiosity, do you view daydreaming to have a positive or negative influence on your life?  Either way the song definitely evokes an emotion in the reader, so you've hit on something!

Daydreaming about Dory when you were five?  Wow, I'm old.  That movie definitely didn't come out until after I was an adult.

@Dushyant Thanks! I sort of have a tune for it but even though I play the piano I'm not very good at writing music and I can't sing so there's no point recording me singing it then putting it on here XD

@Story_Teller I have mixed feeling about my daydreams and I don't think that I should put only positive and no negative (or vice versa) lines into the song.

Thanks for commenting! I was worried that people would say it was rubbish, I normally feel like I and things I draw/write are worse than others', but with poetry and songs for some reason I tend to think mine are better than they probably are! Weird, huh?

very nice song

very appreciate it !!

: )

I love this song and can relate to it well.  I was wondering if I could get your permission to sing it and post it on YouTube.  The copyright will go to you, of course, and no one will know what it's about unless they know of MD.  What do you think?
