The current dream I am pursuing is bringing out my own card games. Collecting them is a passion that started at 18.

In the past I have been fond of card games deemed "nerdy" such as Magic the Gathering and Star Wars CCG. I spent numerous hours building wondrous decks. I have discovered many other games in the past year such as Ascension, Seventh Hero and Smash Up. Also less "nerdy" games such as Mascerade, Resistance Avalon.. . As long as it's outside of the mainstream and has enough imagination I tend to be interested.

I love fantasy and sci fi themes amongst others. And found some great and affordable artwork that deserves being in a game.

My skills are inventing the games, making layouts with Photoshop (still learning a thing or two), being smart and creative about saving costs in various ways and working with great limitations. Also there are so many things I see that are wrong with existing games. I want to do better (and probably will make many mistakes still).

Originality will not be so much in the fantasy themes but in the niches within that theme since I will not aim much on things like combat and conquest, my first game will be about fairies stealing treasure, a second about transport and espionage.

Idea is to launch via kickstarter and then sell via my own webstore.

Still in an early stage of accomplishing my goal (due end of next year or perhaps even later). I never expected the grass to be greener than my former job: it was laid back and paid very well. Now I have to deal with more loneliness and not living up to other people's standards when it comes to working very hard and making long hours.

Of course, everybody asks me the same 3 questions:
-can you make enough money with this???

-is there a market for it that you researched???

-do you have a business plan???

I reply, yes because I have seen succesful examples when it comes to sales. But for truly useful, specific information I am really in the dark. It will take a lot of time to build up something I think. I see this as a part time adventure to relieve it from destructive pressure. Generally, despite positive reactions, I see a lot of negativity, people saying or at least thinking: "forget about making money with games". Or: "be sure that the game is absolutely beyond brilliant and ground breaking or stop wasting your time". It can be very demotivating.

Also, I want to write a novel in the future but decide to focus on cards now to prevent me from going mental.
