Hello.. I am 19. I am new here ... I am completely addicted to mdd.. I am stucked .... Don't know how to get out of it.... I want to be normal... Wanted to live my life .... Wanted to be free as a brid .... I hate to give reasons but mdd is my biggest reason.... Its a thing that made me weak every time ... It wastes my time .. All my dreams all my wishes are incompleted bcoz of dis... But at the end of the day it is the only thing that give me happiness in my fantasy world.... I am waiting for that day when my fantasy world will be my real world... When I fly in open sky... No worries ! Want to touch that happiness .... Want to feel freedom... Wanted to just be free. Want to do all those things which i want! No one can brings me down..!! It would be the happiest day and happiest life <3 ... I just want to start that journey I don't know what I get .. Success or failure... Whatever it is ... I Want to give my 100% .... Want to face every challenge... Want to live free in that journey... And enjoy each and every moment....

Well if you are in an English class and writing an essay what I do is daydream about the article it's supposed to be based off of. And if its an argumentative essay, daydream that your debating about the assigned topic. This works for me, but every Daydreamer is different, but it's worth a try. For math, honestly i have no clue because I had a F all semester long until my teacher took pity on me and have me a B on my final grade. Anyways, I guess just try the essay thing and see what happens, couldn't hurt.

hmm well. There's a few things you can do. One of them is to  Daydream that you are working. You can make it more interesting by adding things that... happen. IDK. I don't know your habits or what happens in your daydreams, but keep in mind that our daydreams are what we want to do. So daydreaming about doing an essay may help you do your essays.

Its a matter of knowing yourself and your habits to be able to find a solution.

Well my daydreams are normally based on books, tv shows and films that I like at the time and in my daydreams I am a stronger better version of myself

Hi I am 13 years old and I struggle to do long essays because I struggle to focus on one thing for long periods of time without daydreaming. Does anyone have any tips to deal with this?

@callina I am 15. (Close enough to 13) and I'd say I'm lucky to have another (in person, at school) MD friend, but what I've noticed is that I can't study or do my homework, I always have songs stuck in my head, but don't focus on the negatives. My MDing reduces when I think about the positives I can do with it. Try writing! MDers tend to be excellent writers! Use your ability to see situations from multiple perspectives to your advantage! Yes, the pressure from MD may seem overwhelming, but I've come to accept it and make me stronger as a person. I am currently writing a book about my personal journeys through a life with MD and how I've come to accept it and come in harmony with it. Use that as an example! Rise above the negatives, you'll only discover greatness! Yes, MD seems to get worse as you are pushed more into the real world and I don't fully understand yet, but I know MD is something we can overcome and rise to greater things. I am totally ranting here, but I hope you get my point and understand that MD is not a bad thing once you've accepted and made it work for your benefit. I believe that MDers can become a powerful sect of people, and I hope you know that there is hope in this world and you have a purpose!

@callina I recently graduated high school. during senior year i hardly went to school, never studied, ive never been able to focus on anything my entire life. i barely graduated, and now i live at home, feel like an idiot because i lose focus watching tv.

I suggest you and everyone who's only 13 get help. go to therapy because your Maladaptive Daydreaming problem is only going to get worse if left untreated and ruin your education and ultimately your career. You're going to wish you'd done something with your life, focused more and worked harder in school and made something of yourself. if you're only a teenager you need to acknowledge your problem before it takes over your entire life. it doesnt just go away on its own

Maybe you should consider trying to take notes? That way you're more likely to utilise your thoughts differently. It also helps to have an interest in the subject too.
