Chapter 7: The Phone Call

 

My phone vibrated and played it's Born This Way ringtone, "Hello?" I said answering the phone. "Hey baby! I snuck to the lobby's bathroom to call you before I went out to lunch with Luc! I was wondering if you wanted to come with us." she replied at the other line. "Well I kind of already ate lunch but sure I'll come along!" I replied excited seeking another opportunity to see her, "Where are we going though?" I asked. "Well I was thinking of just going to Lakeside Mall since it's right by you!" she replied, "Sounds good! Call me when you guys get here!" I replied. "Ok babe see you then, bye!" she said before she hung up. I quickly started getting myself dressed before brushing my teeth and putting just a little makeup on. About 20 minutes later I got a text, "We're here! Listen though, I told Luc this was a second interview so if he asks you anything answer as best as you can.." the message said, "Ok I'll try. Be out in a minute!" I replied as I put my phone in my purse, slipped on my shoes, and headed out the door. "Hey Stef!" I shouted as I got in the back seat of the car and gave her a hug, "Hey lovely!" she replied as she gave me a friendly kiss on the cheek. "Hey Luc!" I said, "Hey..." he replied giving me a kind of a dirty look as I maintained a pleasant grin and sat down next to Stef and closed the door. "Have you ever been to this mall before Stef?" I asked looking over at her typing a text and sending it, my phone vibrated. "No I really haven't been to this mall before, is it any fun?" she asked, "Ehh... well it's pretty big and has quite a few stores and places to eat, but nothing spectacular." I said pulling my phone out of my pocket to read her text, "I think he's jealous." it said. "He keeps giving me these dirty ass looks and it's starting to urk me.." I quickly replied and put my phone away. "So Nicole...." Luc began to speak maintaining his evil looking glare, "What are your weaknesses?" Remembering what my business communications teacher said as an example came in handy, "I have a little bit of a time management problem, but I'm working on it and I don't know if time management is necessarily an issue when you are an assistant." I replied giving him an evil grin back as his glare grew more intense. I looked over and saw Stefani sending me another text so I got ready for my phone to vibrate, "Good answer, I don't get what the fuck his problem is..." the text message said. "Thanks! And yeah I don't know what crawled up his ass and died." I texted back. Stefani snickered loudly as she read my text I sent back and Luc's glare got a little more angry looking as he crossed his arms. We finally pulled into the mall and were dropped off by the driver at the doors, "Where do you think we should go eat Nicole?" Stefani asked befuddled walking in with me, "Not really sure, the last time I ate at this mall was when I was a little kid." I replied as we walked through whatever store we entered to get to the main area of the mall. 

We finally found a nice pizza place in the food court and decided to eat there, "Wanna eat with us Nicole or are you good?" Stefani asked as we walked over to order, "I guess I could go for a few slices, wanna go looking around after?" I replied. "Ok I'll order us a whole pizza and sure that sounds fun!" she said with a grin on her face as Luc and I went to sit down at the table waiting for our food. I felt tension at the table as Luc still glared, "So.. why do you want to work for my girlfriend?" he asked still glaring, "Well it's every little monster's dream to work with her, but I also love to help people so I'm very sure that I could do the job right.." I replied. "Pizza's here!" Stefani shouted as she set the pizza down on the table and sat next to me. Luc opened the pizza box and took out a slice making sure to still glare at me as I grabbed a slice for myself and a slice for Stefani and started eating. "So Luc how's that drunk diet thing you're doing working out?" I asked as I took a bite of my pizza. His glare quickly changed into a grin, "Well it's going pretty good, have you ever wanted to try it?" he asked with a curious look on his face, "Well.. my family and I don't have much money so I can't really change my diet until I start making some, but I'm willing to at least do the diet part since running is hard on my legs." I replied grabbing another slice. He no longer glared but sat with a small grin on his face, my phone vibrated with a new text from Stef, "Wow you actually made him unpissed." it said. "Yeah I figured mentioning that would take his mind off of what I really want. ;)" I replied under the table quickly with a grin putting my phone back in my pocket. "So do you ladies wanna do some looking around now?" Luc asked starting to stand up and fold the pizza box closed before throwing it away. "Yes sir!" Stefani replied excited as her and I stood up to start walking around. We were immediately crowded by a ton of people and camera flashes, "Lady GaGa!! Lady GaGa!!" was all that could be heard amongst the crowd as we tried to push our way through, "Wow it must suck to be famous sometimes...." I said as we finally made our way out of the giant crowd that Stefani blew a kiss to before turning away to keep walking with Luc and I, "Yeah it does sometimes even though I love my fans to death.." Stefani replied as we walked into a jewelry store to look at all of the pretty things in the glass cases. "Oohhh that necklace is so pretty looking!" I shouted pointing to a diamond necklace with a pendant in the shape of an N, "Wow that IS pretty!" Stefani replied looking through the case at it with a big grin on her face. We exited the jewelry store so I could show her my favorite place to shop, Hot Topic. As we walked into the store I pointed out all of the shirts that had her on them, but she looked very unsettled, "I'll be right back... I have to pee.." she said turning out of the store, "Ok Luc and I will keep browsing through here until you get back." I replied looking at a few shirts I was thinking of buying.
