Hello, I've just joined the group after finding the website in New Scientist Magasine.
I've spent all my life in a mixed reality/ fantasy world, which I consider normal and beneficial. If I have a problem in life, my daydreaming produces so many ideas and counter thoughts on how to address it; it also it allows me to explore several ways of dealing with the situation, in a safe enviroment.
When I don't have any problems, it provides me with a rich tapestry of situations, adventures and abilities that reach far beyond my own. I am always aware of the real world and am able to stop the day dreams when I need to (when I'm at work). Maybe I don't have MALadaptive day dreams.... as life flows easilyand is wholly enriched b y my fantasy dreaming.

Joy, we're not saying that daydreaming is bad.  For some reason, this is a persistent debate, and I don't really see why it has to be.  I tell everyone that daydreaming is initially a good thing. We think more than normal, and I know a lot of people who can stand to think a bit more.  I reject the idea that daydreaming is bad, even when it becomes maladaptive.  However, I started this site because for a lot of people it can get out of control.  Those people have a right to ask for help.  A lot of people on here are really struggling with it.  I encourage them to write about their ups and downs, and they find it very cathartic.  People on here are really great about supporting each other, and that can feel good when you're struggling.  EVERYONE is welcome.  Just because people are speaking up though doesn't mean they're putting it down.  They're expressing what they're going through.  Many on here embrace daydreaming and its creative aspects.  There's even a group just for that.  I encourage you to share your side and your experiences.  Maybe you can live the best of both worlds.  Maybe you can even help some who are struggling.
