There have been so many times when I'll be listening to someone speak and then all of a sudden I'll just melt into a daydream and completely miss an entire conversation or instruction. I am conscious of the fact that these are daydreams and when they're happening, but sometimes I really don't feel like I can't moderate when they happen anymore. It never ceases to startle me when I snap back from a daydream and hear someone talking about something completely different than where they started.

That's how it's always been for me. I stopped deep daydreaming long ago but I guess it's still a habit of my mind because I'm doing a somewhat shallow daydreaming all the time. I don't think I can drop it at once like magic but I think it's a matter of forming new habits and dropping old ones.

Me too!

Oddly enough, I got tested for ADHD/ADD - they noted that my ability to concentrate was way above average. It doesn't help me in real life, however. I constantly zone out against  my will.

I do this too - only problem I have with MDD. I am in controll of my daydreams, but I don't controll whene I daydream. It's just something I always do no matter what circumstances. Zoning out is something inevitable for me. The frustration of people who see me zone out over and over and over again while they try to keep me focused on something, can simply not be described haha priceless XD
