    Hi Inside Out!

I'm 47, have three children (two of them are already grown-up), a husband and daydream since I was a child. Thinking for decades I am strange and the only one daydreaming to this extend I was so happy to find this site. On this website there are many people in their teens and a bit older, so I was glad to find you at a similare age like me, with a family and with the same problem.

I have sent you a friendship-request, but I don't know how this works (have never done this before).

    Greetings from Germany

I don't think one of my kids is excessively daydreaming. My youngest, 13 years, likes to make plans what to work, how to live and so on, when she is grown up. She can spend some time with this thoughts, drawing plans of houses - but I think this is still "normal".

I think I've got this problem because as a child I really had no one to speak about my problems. My mother was heavy depressive, I didn't want to bother her with my problems - and she was the biggest problem I had nobody to talk to. My father was and is still avoiding talking about serious stuff. When my parents got divorced and came from the court I asked my father, whether they are divorced now, but he didn't answer me - I got the answer from my mother. I had no siblings or other relatives. When I started school my parents didn't want me to stay alone at home in the afternoon or go to child-care (for school-children), so I had to go to their working -places and sit there quietly doing my homework.

I think for children it is important to have someone to talk to and to know that feelings like fear and anger are ok and don't have to be surpressed. My two older dauthers were always quarrelling when they where small, but now they have a really good relationship. They also love and care about their younger sister.

Wish you all the best for you and your family!
