Thank You! For welcoming me. I have created a blog and its about that MD thing, could you or anyone read what i go through and if they relate or can help i would apreciate it.
Hi, thank you for welcoming me... and ofcourse for creating this community.
A few weeks ago I read an article about MD and Wild minds in a Dutch magazine called Psyche & brein (I believe its called Eos MIND or something like that in America). For me it was the first time I heard of it - till this moment I thought I was the only one with this freaky 'hobby'. I spoke about it with my psychologist, since I'm in therapy for treating dysthymic depression, but unfortunatly enough, she had never heard of it. I was really amazed... in a bad way, ofcourse.
I really want to get rid of this crazy habit, because it really affects everything in my life: friends, boyfriends, family, work, university... I really can't accept it anymore, though I can't stop doing it. Its a drug! And my 'dream novels' are amazing in comparison with my 'real' life.
If feels very good to know that I'm not the only one.
Thank you for creating this site. I found out about your site when I read the article on the Scientific American Mind magazine. I have this daydreaming since childhood, my way of surviving an abusive childhood I guess. I couldn't seem to find anyone whom I can relate; so, for the longest time, I felt like I was the only one on earth. I am glad I found your website from the article.
Cordellia, our next dinner is Norwegian, set tentatively for 11/11 at 2Pm. We may change this if too many people can't come, but I put out the Event notice anyway. Hope that's OK. Will probably just go ahead. Hope Henrik can come as he was inspiration. And I really hope you can come. I know you don't cook, but that's OK.
THANK YOU!! For starting this. I'm so glad I found this. I always knew there had to be others, but i never dreamed there would be a website where i could connect with them and find out more about the whole thing. :) You've just changed my life, and I owe you forever.
Hi! I am actually the mother of a 10 year old girl who has( always in private) skipped around a room or on our trampoline, waving a stick with a ribbon on it around whilst telling herself ' secret stories ' for as long as she has been able to talk. My husband and I have at times limited the amount of time she does it for but have thought that she would grow out of it. She has had a stable childhood and no abuse .She has always been very grown up for her age and is the top of her class especially in literacy. However, she can be obsessive and isn't the most socially adept but is getting better with us constantly telling her how to act in certain situations. I am amazed and somewhat relieved to have found your website. I have some questions though. If anyone can help please?
Should I tell her that there are others in the world/ country who also do this?
Should I take her to a psycologist?
Should I try to stop her doing it whilst she is only 10 ? She herself has likened it to what it must be like to smoke cigarettes and not able to stop.
I am excited about finding this web site. I've been looking for help with my day dreaming for awile, but couldn't find anyhting until recently. Nice to know others have this problem.
Thanks so much! I just found out I had this problem today and I'm simultaneously happy that I'm not alone and terrified that this might take over my life :P
Hey, it looks like you already have a bunch of thank yous for creating this site, but I really do appreciate everything you've done. Tonight has been a very life changing night for me, reading all of this stuff that I thought I'd been the only one thinking about for years! Thank you thank you very much!
Hi Cordellia! and thank you :) I recently discovered that I have MDD, and discovered this website today :) It is wonderful, I thought I was truly alone until I found this!
OMG- my favorite daydream character is named Cordellia....So ironic!! I like her the most- shes a child prodigy and cured cancer! (only in my day dreams, of course!)
Great to be here and thanks so much for this site. I didn't think anyone out there was an "extreme dreamer" like me. It's awesome having a place to come to. Looking forward to chatting with you.
I have been suffering from this condtion since i was 5 years lod -i only in the last few weeks realised it has (a) A name (b) there are others like me what a relief -thanks so much for this forum -its a beginning of a long journey for me
Hi Cordellia. I am overwhelmed...but really appreciate your work on this site. I had no idea (like many on here it seems) that these issues were so common. Thanks heaps. Enjoy your day! (:
No thank you for creating this website, its so relieving to know that I'm not a weirdo..learning about it has really helped me to try & control it even though part of me doesnt want to get rid of it all the way. I've been doing this since I was in elementary school.
Hi Cordellia thanks for accepting my request, i feel I finally have an answer now.
MD has always been nameless to me, I was aware this was an addiction although so bizarre it was hard to acknowledge.
I have always considered this a positive attribute of my personality, an odd compulsive behavior I can indulge in yet a driving force motivating me to persue creative interests .
Defiantly not something I have ever shared before.
