My daydreams are often triggered by real-world conflicts, often with my wife. My MD problem started in 2018 after I was incapacitated recovering from shoulder surgery, and my wife went ballistic that I was unable to do yard work and chores for months. She acted extremely mean and critical, threatened divorce, said that she hated me. Suddenly I had MD for hours, and it's been awful ever since. I'm fortunate to have a gifted psychoanalyst who has helped me for decades with other mental problems. I have a complex illness (means a wide variety of symptoms). One of my symptoms is similar to MD.

That's so interesting! Are there people in your shared reality who you wish would have those kinds of realizations about themselves? It's not always the case, but sometimes I find my daydreams are a way to experience people around me in the way I wish I could - even if I'm not actually daydreaming about those people.

G said:…

Yep. We have daydreams that are what we have come to understand as confrontations we can't have in shared reality. At some point we were just like, "oh. we have arguments living in our body." Which is why we have often had daydreams over the years of people being rude, unkind, cruel even, irritating.
Do you think you are compensating? Maybe we are educated to be always nice and inside us something screams.

In some of my daydream I'm helpless (It's hard to admit) but I'm always so much in control and strong that I think I'm compensating, thinking of a imaginary reality where someone else take care of things.
