Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
At some point this place was a home to me. I found here nice people some of whom I still consider friends (we switched to other social networks). I went through a lot of personal growth and learned a lot of new stuff about myself thanks to local discussions. so I am thankful to this place a lot, but... the owner has never been a real part of this, more than that, I feel like she was an obstacle to how this place worked.
Cordellia even tried to pass this site to someone else? Or find some other way to keep it? Maybe kicking out long inactive members to make place for new ones, for example?
All she did by this place was go on "poor me, I'm so special and misunderstood". Look even at the site info here - it all goes on about her, tho it is supposed to be neutral. She was behaving like a dictator when she was active - interrupting convos, banning people she didn't like with some humiliating "last words to say before u leave" stuff. Then when she lost interest, she stopped even checking to clean spam and get rid of creeps.
And now she is deleting it without even caring that this place has become home for people. I'm not gonna make a conclusion, you can work it out yourself.
So nah, bye, Cordi, was nice to be here though.

No, seriously.
I do agree with "why not try and pass it on to new management". Has anyone reached out to her and made the attempt? And I do think the early success and membership took her by surprise. I have not been very active here in many years.
I haven't seen any active users here apart from a couple for a while. not new ones, not old ones. no point in keeping a site going when it isn't being used. Hearing Cordellia's story helped me with my own.
complaining about things actually isn't a legal requirement.
I can't fault Cordelia for deciding to shut down. The site does seem to have run its course and gets far more spam than activity these days. Other sites have come to take its place that are much more actively managed and have greater activity. It is a shame to lose the history here, though. It might be good to move it to an archive. It would no longer be active, but the history would still be available.
Yes, it gets more spam than activity, thanks to the owner not cleaning the spam and coming here only to advertise her own popularity. When people come to speak, they see all the spam around and it scares them off.
