SUMMARY:Live webinar: Trauma and addictive behaviours - From maladapti
 ve daydreaming to sexual addictions
DESCRIPTION:In the first half of this webinar, Eli Somer, PhD, will gi
ve a talk titled, 'Maladaptive Daydreaming: an unrecognized mental hea
lth problem'. This webinar will focus on maladaptive daydreaming (MD)
, or daydreaming disorder, a psychological concept first introduced in
2002 to describe a time consuming absorption in fantasy that can crea
te distress and/or interfere with social, academic, vocational or othe
r important areas of functioning. Research findings show a relationsh
ip between MD and dissociative absorption, ADHD, OCD, depression and a
nxiety. Evidence suggests MD could fit the description of a behavioura
l addiction. Studies indicate that a subgroup of individuals with MD
have been subjected to adverse childhood experiences such as emotional
neglect or abuse, or social anxiety and isolation suggesting a potent
ial emotional regulation role for MD. Participants in this webinar wil
l be able to identify MD, know how to assess it and consider possible
relevant intervention strategies.\n\nFor more information visit https:
