Hi everyone. I'm a new member who wanted to give input into something I think can benefit you. I read somewhere that fluvocamine (used to treat OCD) helped them stop day dreaming. So I went to my doctor and had him prescribe it to me and literally the next day I STOPPED DAYDREAMING . 10 years of make believe fantasies stopped. However, the day dreams were replaced with constant rehearsing of conversations...so my therapist recommended I up my dose and so I did, and it stopped the conversation rehearsing! Although it is not perfect, it has helped immensely. I even started playing the violin, which would've never happened since I couldn't focus. I still pace and walk around and tap, but so much less time wasted. I'm even on the way to my first relationship and it feels nice. It's crazy. So that's just a quick summary. Good luck everyone :)

As of this week, it has been 6 months! I can't believe how fast it's gone by. But I feel different and I don't day dream NEARLY a much and I focus on other important tasks and I take pleasure in new things, like my hobbies (playing violin, reading, learning ASL, etc) and it feels awesome when I can focus on a task and get it done without day dreaming interruption. Granted I still day dream, but it's realistic. No more fantasy of cartoons or characters. If you can, PLEASE try it. It'll help you so much.

That's great. I'm really happy for you. But, how long have you taken Fluvoxamine??

Glad this worked out for you. The person who wrote The Atlantic article on maladaptive daydreaming said the same drug helped her too I think.

Yes I know, I've only seen it in one article and it's in only one sentence. If you can, give it a shot :)

I had read about this elsewhere, pleased to know that it works.  Wish I had known years ago.

Well, I had already told him about being depressed. I told him the medication he had me on wasn't too great (bupropion) and I suggested fluvoxamine. He said he's open minded so he prescribed it.

How did you get your GP to prescribe it?
