I read this thing that said the brain is not capable of creating human faces in dreams so all the people in our (asleep) dreams you've seen before. I wonder if this applies to dd's too even though I'm pretty sure all my characters are made up I wonder if they were inspired by real people.

I've wondered the same thing too. I have no idea where the faces from my characters came from.  I've tried to find actors or celebrities who might even have a slight resemblance but so far, I've found none.  We've either made them up or combined faces.. like if I see someone's eyes I like, I'll put them on a character.

I personally think that while the faces of our DDs are recycled, their personalities
can be totally original

I agree with DustyAnimals, the characters in our daydreams are a combination of real life people, and they sometimes have the personality of one character and a face of another.

I've heard this. I heard because we've seen SO many people in our lives, anytime we're in public we see many new faces and then forget them, but the faces are sort of stored in our subconscious memory. So the faces we do imagine may not belong to a person you know or are consciously thinking of but they are probably based on these subconscious memories.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the faces of our characters may be combinations of various real life faces we've seen, I personally find it hard to imagine a totally unique face that doesn't bear a resemblance to anyone I've ever seen or met.

Really? But I can make up many faces in my head and I am pretty sure I have never met them or seen them.

"I suppose people's faces in dreams are based on faces we have already seen. That doesn't mean a person is not capable of coming up with a unique image." I agree with Rashomon because I think you can "combine" faces that you have seen, which will result in a new and unique face. I combined faces of exisiting people to create my characters.

how do they know? I don't believe that, I think we are very capable of making up faces. The two main charaters that show up in my DDs are not people I have ever seen, I have even done research looking for anyone who looks simular in movies, tv etc. Because they are so vivid and unique. I still haven't found anyone close. I think the mind is much more powerful then "they" think.
