Wednesday morning I had another Nissen Fundoplication (stomach wrapped around my esophagus) to correct GERD (AKA Acid Reflux Disease).  I appreciate all the support and well-wishes.  I'm told it went well.  I had another reaction to the anesthetic.  It was nothing dangerous, but I just felt horribly itchy all over and had to be given medicine for that.  I had the same reaction to the pain med, but at least I remembered to take down the name of it, so if I need pain management again I can tell them which med gave me that reaction.  I was in the hospital for 2 days, hooked up to tubes and an IV.  It's exactly as fun as it sounds.  I was alternately sore and in pain or horribly itchy, and it was really boring.  I least I had my own room with a TV.

I told my kitties multiple times in advance that I would be gone for a few days and would come back, so when I came back, they were fine.  They didn't seem traumatized.  They acted like everything was normal.  My friend took care of them while I was away.

I wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink for about a day and a half.  I knew I'd be on an all-liquid diet for a while after the surgery, but I figured they'd at least give me some water.  They wouldn't until I had an x-ray (while drinking horribly bitter liquid) to make sure there were no leaks.  It's amazing what having nothing for so long will do to your stomach.  When I was finally allowed to drink some water, I was full after a few sips.  Even now, 3 days later, I'm completely full after drinking even half a cup of anything.  I'm sure my stomach will adjust.

My friend will make sure I'm in regular contact with him, so if anything happens like last time (when I was passed out on the brink of death for a few days), he'll know to check on me.  Now we both know what to watch for, and I'm sure those kinds of things are rare anyway.

I'm still weak and a bit sore, but I got some pain meds which are helping a little.  I'll be all better soon.

Thanks for caring.  I care about all of you as well.

Stay positive and take it one step at a time. You'll get through it and things will get better.

Wow what an ordeal to go through! Honestly, I don't know what to say that is just horrible. I hope they find a solution soon, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, but things aren't going very well.  I've been weak and dehydrated.  It's hard to swallow liquids, and then I end up choking on foamy saliva for several hours.  It's so bad that my surgeon is putting in a feeding tube on Friday.  It'll get better, but right now it's miserable.

I have away for a while, so I am just now getting back to wildminds. I am terribly sorry to hear about your ordeal, being sick is absolutely horrible, hospital are no fun, but I am glad they were able to get you fixed up. Please rest and take it easy. I pray that your pain has vanished completely, if not subsided a great deal, I hope.

Thanks, guys!  I've been recovering slowly.  I've been on a liquid diet, but it's really hard to swallow, so I'm feeling a bit week.  My surgeon's assistant said to try popsicles, which are really yummy.  I'll be fine.  I just can't run any marathons right now.  Lol.
