Career as a research professor

I was just thinking that academia may be a good avenue for many of us. I am assuming a lot of common traits I’ve seen over and over. Many of us are quite introverted, some have social anxiety and…Continue

Hi. I was just wondering what everyone gets up to on a typical day.

Hobbies and skills

Has anyone managed to master any hobbies? I have tried to master the guitar but I really don’t practise enough. Of course it’s fun to pretend you are performing in a band but it’s quite another thing…Continue

I was reminded of the reason I left the real world originally

Posted on June 25, 2015 at 4:31am 4 Comments

A few weeks a young lady made comments about me that really hurt me and are the main reason I think I started daydreaming in the first place.

She says “we (her and the other three girls) are sometimes excited, we get angry we get irritable but you…you are always (she tries to find the right words…moving her hand horizontally across the air like a flat plane), you are always neutral.” She explains what she means. Throughout this I want to start crying. I know what…

Connecting with my actual identity 1

Posted on March 17, 2015 at 6:01am 9 Comments

Most of the elements of my identity are not bad, I just don't connect with them because I spend most of my life in fantasy or life avoidance activities.

I think I disconnected from myself as a child due to feeling like I couldn't fit into the world. I was a very shy/anxious child and my mind was the only place I could be myself and be "connected". Even as things got better I continued to shy away from life and hide in my mind.

In Reality…

One of my daydreams involved me dancing at a party with friends. So I would have earphones in and loud music playing and I would switch off the lights in my bedroom and essentially enter into another world. Usually a party or music festival. A lot of the people in this daydream would be people from school or wherever. I would dance away in my room for hours. I would often be the centre of attention for something or the other.

Anyway, during these years I was never…

That one quality: Focus

Posted on June 12, 2014 at 5:37am 3 Comments

I identify as an introvert. More recently I started to wonder if I may also have Aspergers. I never used to use that word, but would always describe myself with many of its characteristics. Now I have never been diagnosed, so lets just say that I identify with many of the characteristics.

Except one. FOCUS. Introverts and aspies are often described as having intense focus and incredible attention to detail. Actually,…

Yes a lot of people are obsessed with celebrities, it's true. But I think we MDers take it to the extreme. Like for you having to go on a Bastille diet haha. I wish it were easy for you. It is sad to give up something you care about.

Hello! I hope you didn't find it harassing for me to comment here after you commented on my blog. :P I just know that not everyone checks back on those things (I get the email updates so it's easier for me). Sorry that your procrastination is what's stopping you now. :/ I can't imagine procrastinating without daydreaming. Well, that's not true. I used to spend a lot of time on Tumblr, especially if I had something else to be doing.

I keep hearing about this band Bastille!! I need to look them up. I've had daydreams centered on band members. I used to have one with me and Dave Grohl. Now, me and Dave are kind of "background characters", while mine and Dave's children are the main characters, all grown up.

I do have a youtube channel where I share all my little creative videos. It'd be cool if that could turn into a big thing for me. :) I see how well it works out for other people.

Hi, just wondering how things were going with you. I'm not sure if you saw my comment on my blog in response to you. Have you been successful in keeping your triggers to a minimum?
