I would say daydreaming/spacing out/having a short attention span are well-known symptoms of attention-deficit disorder and MD, and the urge to move and pace and act out a scene with MD is sometimes compared with hyperactivity in ADHD. I guess that’s why a MDer would get misdiagnosed with something like ADD/ADHD.

well said Marcy. There is a difference between being distracted and daydreaming. Distraction can be when you are constanly noticing everything that is happening around you, and it makes it difficult to focus on what is infront of you. Because you are noticing a shimmer of a light over there, you notice a movement in the corner of you eye and someone is talking behind you. You get distracted by all the other things that are happening around you. This is comon in autism, because the autistic brain does not filter out anything. A neuro-normal brain will filter out anything that is not important for them to know at the very moment. But an autistic brain takes in everything that is happening, all the time. It can be distracting and overwhelming. Daydreaming will more likely make you unaware of what is happening around you, because you are so deeply invested in what is happening inside your head, that you don't notice what is going on outside of it.

Exactly, Louise, sometimes people ask me what I think, and I really have no idea what was going on in that conversation.

Yeah I'll have that too. Or I snap out and just hear the end of a conversation and add something, just to realise that I am way off topic.

i kinda have like a tape recorder beginning in the background of my mind that actually can reproduce what is being said. I ;m just more into my daydreams than the conversation...
