Where wild minds come to rest

Ever been caught in the middle of a daydream?

Ive had so many moments when I'll be making hand gestures or facial expressions or pacing when someone comes in and had to try and explain myself without sounding insane. I honestly don't know how to make it sound normal and i usually just laugh it off or walk away. Sometimes i worry most of my family thinks I'm insane. Anyone else have that problem?

Don't blame them, they don't understand.

Some people like pacing or playing with their hands mindlessly, it's not an uncommon problem.

The happened to me the other day. I have been daydreaming in my room for hours and I was jumping up and down on my knees on top of my bed when my mother walked it. It was awkward, but eventually I had to tell her about my condition.
I usually daydream by drawing so it is very easy to get caught. (I draw all the time) when people look over my shoulder and ask what I am drawing I usually give them a wrong answer instead of telling them my entire daydream.

There have been times when I have daydreamed something funny, and have been walking down the street trying to keep from laughing or people would look at me funny.

I can turn off the pacing and gesturing when I am afraid I could get caught, so far it never happened to me.

Sometimes when I'm walking or driving and I catch myself saying something, I think, this is what crazy people on the street corner muttering to themselves look like.

me.. its hard really.. hope we overcome it very soon...

I sometimes run around the house to daydream. I don't know why but a fast, repetitive movement just helps make my daydreams more vivid. My mum will sometimes then wonder why I'm out of breathe or just ran across the room when I simply could of just walked. I normally just shrug, get embarrassed and walk away. I've never told her the real reason why I do it. I end up telling to her that I just need stretch my legs every five minutes cause I spend too much time sitting down.

Hmm, perhaps I should start jogging outside.

This happens to me all the time! I'll just be sitting there making a series of weird faces and then someone looks at me weird. I tend to get really embarrassed and then mumble some response that makes me sound totally insane.

I think every human has been caught daydreaming at least once in their life. I guess for us, it can be very traumatic because when we daydream, its very hard for us to switch from the daydream to reality.

If someone mockingly asks you why you are pacing and making "quirky" hand gestures and facial expressions, just tell that person that you were thinking deeply about things. Which is actually true, but this is saying it in a way that is easy for anyone to understand.

Heh...Yeah, me too.

I used to get caught daydreaming all the time at work. How embarrassing! I worked at a sandwich place for awhile, and it was so boring (which is one of my triggers) The customers would catch me daydreaming and laugh. I suspect I had some funny looks on my face.  My boss would get really mad at me for it. But ugh! It was so boring I just couldn't help myself.
